COMMISSION CASE STUDY
InStyle Hair by Nico
A piece of art can help tell your brand story, in this case I worked with local hairdresser, Nico, to showcase that feeling when a woman has her hair done – just beautiful.
For Brisbane-based hairdresser, InStyle Hair by Nico, we worked together on a piece that now adorns his salon’s bathroom wall, although a space that is often forgotten it was an area he knew his clients would appreciate to also be a pleasing space.
Apart from adding interest to the room through wall art, Nico also wanted to capture that feeling of a relaxed coastal holiday vibe plus bring in a sense of femininity, peacefulness and highlight a woman’s luscious locks blowing in the breeze. To blend with his existing Hamptons interior styling we chose a muted palette of soft grey, blue, taupe and white, and together we agreed upon creating a composition of a lady in an elegant yet casual dress looking out to sea. This emotive pose of a singular figure in the landscape resonates with the viewer and transports them to feeling like they are there at the beach too.
I shared progressive snapshots of the painting with Nico throughout the commission process, and all in all, both my client and his hairdressing clients all love the piece we created.
